What is the scheme?
The Soil Health Card Scheme is a Central Government scheme launched on 19 February 2015. A sample of your farm soil is tested and you get a card. The card reports 12 things about your soil: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulphur, zinc, iron, copper, manganese, boron, pH, EC and organic carbon. It also tells you which fertiliser to use, and how much, for each crop.

When will I get the card? Who can apply?
Every farmer with farm land can benefit. As per the government, a new card is given every two years. Soil samples are usually taken after the Rabi or Kharif harvest, when no crop is standing in the field. More than 25 crore cards have been given to farmers so far.
How to check your status
- Open the website soilhealth.dac.gov.in.
- Go to “Farmer’s Corner” and choose “Print Soil Health Card”.
- Select your state, district, sub-district and village, then enter your name or sample number.
- Click Search, view your card and Download / Print it. (Button names on the portal may differ slightly.)
If you cannot do it online, visit your Block Agriculture Office, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or nearest CSC centre. Keep ready: Aadhaar card, mobile number and your land record details.
Conclusion
A soil test shows exactly what your field needs. This saves money on extra fertiliser and gives a better crop. Check your card today and please share this with every farmer in your village.
